Heirloom kale from the 1860s. Exceptionally hardy, surviving harsh winters without protection. Even under a meter (3ft) of snow, it is still good to eat, sweeter than store-bought kale. Normally kale is planted in fall for winter growing but this variety does well in hot summer weather too. It survived weeks of 35C plus temperatures with no problems. Blue-green crinkled leaves are delicious in salads, steamed or sauteed. Ht. 30-35cm/12-15". 60 days.
